“Gem of Anjou”
An ancient estate, Château de la Roulerie dates back to the 11th century, run by the passionate and capable Philippe Germain (originate in Bordeaux), the latest in a long line of winemakers.
For six generations of the Germain family, Château de la Roulerie is popular among the vanguard in the Loire, as they emphasize purity and expression in the resulting wines.
The reflection of Philippe Germain's philosophy through passion for the complex wine styles that can be made from the Chenin Blanc is that 'top quality Chenin Blanc simply doesn't need or benefit from the treatment'.
The true "raison d'être" (reason for existence) for this great wine grower is to retained their love of the land, the terroirs and the grapes characteristics. Respectful of traditions, the cultivations of vines and the fermentation, ageing and marketing of wines, the Germain is also in the process of converting this vineyard to organic or biodynamic viticulture.
